5 Reasons to be Thankful to God in 2016

We thank the Lord for the privilege of seeing the end of another year 2016, indeed the Lord has been faithful unto us and He deserves to be praised. For everything he has done this year, we must be grateful for them. A local proverb says “He that knows how to think deep, will surely know how to thank God”. I’m sure if you reflect and think, you will be able to testify that the Lord has been good to you!

As another year comes to an end, wouldn’t you take some time to reflect and thank God for all He’s been to you and all He’s done for you? Let me quickly suggest 5 reasons, out of so many, to be thankful to God in this year 2016 that is running out.

1. For His Personal Word to you

If you ever did your quiet time this year, if you ever heard God’s voice this year, if ever you read your bible and got something from it in the course of the year, then it is worth thanking God for. As little as that may seem, it is really not little – many, even those who go to church do not have have a testimony of receiving God’s word! If God ever led you in this year, take some time to thank Him for that!

Thank God for His personal Word to you this year 2016, He deserves the praise!

2. For His Preservation

Hmm… Were you ever tempted this year? As a young person, did you face a temptation that you immediately knew it was only the Lord that made you escape? Who is that man, that has ever kept himself from sin? If there was any man who lived righteous & holy before the Lord, it was because the Lord himself preserved him. If God has preserved you from falling this year, then take some time to thank Him for it!

Thank God for preserving your spiritual life in 2016, He deserves the praise!

3. For His Choice of your life & Ministry opportunities

Even the opportunity to be a blessing to another person, the opportunity to witness or preach, the opportunity to give to someone, is worth thanking God for. If in this year, you ever counselled someone, if in this year, God helped another life via your hand, if in this year God chose you to pass through you as a channel to others and brought growth to the Christian life of others even in a little way, then take time to thank God for that!

Thank God for finding you useful and useable in 2016, He deserves to be praised!

4. For His Provision even in hard times

And despite the hard, dry times, our father kept providing. You have not been running on the economics of your nation but according to his riches in glory and so you have not lacked any good thing. Is it food, is it clothes, is it school fees, is it money for sustenance… What about the unexpected, unplanned for expenses that sprung up along the year and the Lord rose to attend to it miraculously; if God has been faithful in providing, then he truly deserves to be praised!

Thank God for providing for you in different ways in this year 2016, He deserves to be praised!

5. For His Protection

Finally, God has kept us from all evil. Is the devil real? Did he plan evil against you? Sure… But our father is more real than him and more powerful too; for he watches over us day and night, he keeps us as we come in and go out. He is the Lord on the road, on the sea and in the air! Even in the daily activities of going to school or work, jumping from one taxi, bus & bike to another, the Lord has graciously kept you. If God’s mercy has kept you this year, then find some space to thank Him for it!

Thank God for protecting you in 2016, He deserves the praise!

At least, thank God for LIFE!

And what if you had an accident this year? What if you became confused and you struggled to hear God’s voice? What if you slipped & became careless and fell into some sort of sin? And what if you dropped out of school or couldn’t even go at all because of lack of finances? Do you still have a cause to thank God?

Recently, something went wrong for a few hours on Facebook and it began to declare people dead. The funny thing was that people were reading about themselves as dead ;)… Would a man read about his death? Someone said, “I asked myself, am I really dead?” But he was the one reading it himself! Of course, as long as he was still alive to read it, meant he was not dead. As long as he was the one reading it, there was still hope.

So my brother, as long as you are able to read this, it is not over. Sister, as long as you are still alive to read this, then there is a great hope. Imagine that accident actually killed you? What if the fornication you committed led to a pregnancy? What if the recession sent you begging & picking the bins just to survive? So whatever the case may be, God still deserves all the praise. The truth is that God’s mercy was there to monitor everything and make sure it’s not beyond redemption. His mercy places boundaries for how far the enemy can go.

At least, thank God for life that you still have, He deserves the praise still!

So as the year is running to an end, take some time to thank God. Find time to give God praise as an individual and maybe as a family. Take time to think deep and then express your thanks to God. He deserves all the praise, He deserves all the glory, it is His by right!

So join me to praise God o!

Psalm 92:1-5

1  It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

2  To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3  Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4  For thou, LORD, has made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5  O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

And a little worship session just to start you up . . .

Priase Ye The LORD, He Deserves All The Praise!
